Master Plan: Restoration of the Industrial Park
Status: Academic Project
Tutor: Manuel Pineda
Collaborators: Jorge Girón, Leslie Alfaro, Alejandra Balcarcel, Sofia Calvo, Diana Molina and Maria Fernanda Meany
The Industrial Park is located in the Zone 9 of Guatemala City and its currently one of the biggest underutilized areas of the city. The Industrial Park is home to many murals and monuments that are part of the city’s patrimony, but it only opens for private activities, so its enclosed nature blocks the connectivity of the zone and splits it into two major areas. The project aims to restore and redesign the industrial park in a way that we protect and enhance the city’s patrimony and generate a mixed-use complex to unify the zone, generating a more urban, cultural and convergent space. The analysis, research, concept, design strategy, volumetric studies, diagrams, 3D modelling, drawings and final renderings were made in collaboration with the group with an even distribution of work. My sole contribution to the project included the renderings, diagrams and site plan.
